A $6 million partnership between the Australian Government and the NSW Aboriginal Land Council will give Aboriginal Australians living on 63 former reserves across NSW the potential to buy their own homes.

Upgrades to 70 houses in Walgett and the Gingie and Namoi Reserves will begin in the next few months as part of a $2.1 million project to improve housing for Indigenous families and children.

Australian Government funding totalling $600,000 will be spent on improving recreation facilities, children's playgrounds and a Men's Shed in Walgett through the establishment of a Community Capability Fund.
