What is DAISY?

DAISY stands for Digital Accessible Information SYstem. It allows text to be accessible in an audio format, offering a synchronised audio track using synthetised speech.

DAISY assists people who have problems reading normal printed media. It enables users who are blind to navigate and search within a document or book.

The DAISY multimedia files can be downloaded and played using a playback tool, or reader. A list of DAISY Readers is available on the DAISY Consortium website.

More information about DAISY can be found on the DAISY Consortium website.

A video introduction to DAISY is available on YouTube
